DORTMUND

WizzAir’s daily low-cost flights from Sofia to Dormund make the city easily reachable and ideal for shopping. The pedestrian street Westenhellweg is overflowing with shops and malls that can satisfy even the most discerning customers.

Dortmund is primarily an industrial city with a long tradition of mining and coal mining, but there are also historical monuments, including the beautiful 13th-century Reynold Church. Getting to its bell tower is worth the effort, as it gives a lovely scenic view of the city. However, the best panoramic view of the city is revealed by the Florianturm TV Tower (Florian’s Tower), which is also the highest building in the city.

Other attractions here include Der Alte Markt Square with cozy cafés and restaurants, as well as the large square in front of the City Hall.

Dortmund is primarily a modern city, mainly because over the years it was completely destroyed on several occasions: 882 by fire; In 1661 by big earthquake, and during the Second World War 98% of the city center was completely destroyed.

Dortmund is the 8th largest city in Germany, named the “green metropolis” due to its many parks. If you have time, you can visit the zoo or the botanical garden – both parks abound in a variety of flora and fauna.

However, once you set foot on the shopping streen Westenhellweg, you will be so overwhelmed by a shopping craze that only the scent of a street sausages vendor can distract you from entering the next store. For sports fans, the city offers the “5-starred” stadium Westfalenstadion, hosted by the German Bundesliga team Borussia Dormund.

Dortmund is as much an industrial as it is a hospitable city, offering something for everyone and it can be visited on any occasion.
