YUNDOLA

Yundola – a piece of land located up in a mountain, where the air is so pure and clear, as it descends from heaven. In Turkish, the word “yundol” means “wool market”, but for me it is a quiet mountain resort, hidden between pine forests and still far from the crowds of tourists.
The Yundola area is located at 1400 m above sea level, between Rila and the Rhodope Mountains. We made a wonderful 5-day ski holiday there, which then continued with 3 days of warm spa tourism in Velingrad – the spa capital of the Balkans, located only 16 km away.
In addition to cozy and undoubtedly excellent family hotels such as Andela, in Yundola there is a well-built ski slope for beginners with a ski lift and very decent prices for the facilities, bearing the name Starinina. There is also a separate sled-only track, which is a real treasure for all families with children. It was here that we rode the neat pony Delilah.
In the center of Yundola there is still a large market, but not of wool, but of all kinds of dairy products, jam and honey. However, we remained faithful to the excellent products of Sarnitsa Dairy, which has its own store in the center of Velingrad.
Rest, snow, sleds and a lot of rosy cheeks of the children – this are our memories of Yundola.
It is wonderful that there are still such places in Bulgaria where the air makes you heal away from any stress. I hope we will be able to preserve this earthly paradise, despite the large felling of the trees that we saw during our winter vacation, and which were increasingly felt with the increase in the winds in the otherwise so calm area of Yundola, and even in Velingrad. Nature heals here, I hope people will be able to heal nature too.
