(1) THAILAND

If you’re dreaming of a New Year’s Eve party in April, then Thailand is the place for you. From April 13th to 15th, there will be plenty of celebrations and a fun water battle across the country, with locals and tourists splashing the streets in the occasion for Thai New Year. April and March are the best months to visit Cuba in terms of weather: when it is quite dry, hot, but not too hot (between 19ºC at night and 29ºC during the day) and the days are long and sunny. Meanwhile, prices and traffic are also more bearable. It is worth visiting the capital Havana – the city of arts and architecture, visiting a tobacco plantation (such as Valle de Viñales), as well as relaxing on one of the many beaches with Caribbean white sand and turquoise sea, all accompanied by a Latin rhythm.
How to get there? At the moment, the most profitable are Turkish airways flights from Sofia via Istanbul to Havana. Another option is to travel with one of the low-cost airlines (Wizzair or Ryanair) to Madrid and from there a direct flight to Cuba.

(4) MADAGASCAR
Temperature in April: max. 26°C; min. 16°C low
From April, the dry season begins in Madagascar and although there may still be light rainfall, the crowds of tourists are already gone and visitors can enjoy the unique nature and beaches. The island of Madagascar has one of the greatest biodiversity on the planet enjoy one of the best sunsets), a real paradise for animal and plant lovers. (5) NAMIBIA
Temperature in April: max. 26°C; min. 13°C
In Namibia, it rarely rains and with over 300 sunny days a year, it’s hard not to hit a good weather. The country is hospitable and politically stable, with vast and largely uninhabited territories. In April, daytime temperatures are moderate around 24ºC. Then it is worth visiting the oldest desert on earth, the Namib, as well as Sossusvlei – the most photographed place in the country and a real treasure, representing spectacular red sand dunes against the backdrop of a scorching blue sky (it is recommended to visit at dawn or dusk, when the light is most dramatic). Don’t miss a little beach on Atlantic beaches such as the resort of Swakopmund with German colonial buildings.
How to get there? At the moment, the fastest and most convenient are Lufthansa flights from Sofia with a transfer through Frankfurt and then directly to Windhoek Jose Cuttaco Airport, and the journey takes about 15 hours.

(6) ZAMBIA
Temperature in April: max. 25°C; min. 15°C
Zambia is not as popular as its neighbors Botswana and Tanzania, mostly because of the terrible roads and expensive tour packages, but if you have enough money, the country is worth a visit. Among its main attractions is Victoria Falls, which locals call “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, meaning “the smoke that thunders” due the waterfalls – the largest in the world by volume – are often obscured by splashes. However, April is the beginning of the dry season, so cascading water is easier to see. Safaris are also a must when visiting the country, with the largest and oldest national park in Zambia being Kafue. The country also boasts its lakes, with Lake Cariba being the largest man-made lake in the world and considered the Riviera of Zambia: it offers spectacular views, stunning sunsets, and a plethora of water sports.
How to get there? At the moment, the most convenient flights from Sofia to Zambia are on Emirates, with the Sofia-Dubai-Lusaka flight taking about 20 hours.
(7) MARRAKECH, MOROCCO
Temperature in April: max. 23°C; min. 11°C
As strange as it sounds, Marrakech is not hot all year round, although it is located in Africa and near the Sahara. It is best to visit in the spring, when the weather warms up and nature blooms. Marrakech is often called the “Red City” because of the buildings painted with red ochre and the lands around it. While you’re there, be sure to visit Jemaa el Fna – the busiest market on the African continent, known for its street food, snake tamers, traditional musicians, and more. Among the other attractions of the city are the Kutumba Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the Badia Palace, etc., after all, Marrakech, along with Fez, Meknes and Rabat, is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco.

(8) CRETE ISLAND, GREECE

The largest Greek island always has a lot to offer its visitors. In April, the water parks open their doors and start working, and there are still no crowds of tourists and you can fully enjoy them. In addition to the nice beaches, it is worth exploring Knossos – the main center of the Minoan civilization and home to the legendary Minotaur, as well as jump to the small island of Spinalonga with its magnificent Venetian fortress.
How to get there? Ryanair’s direct flights to Chania, Crete will start in June 2025. In April, Aegean airlines flights Sofia-Athens-Heraklion are the most profitable and Sofia-Athens-Chania flights are slightly more expensive.
(9) AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

Amsterdam is one of the most visited cities in the world, famous for its romantic canals, bridges, bike lanes and of course – tulips! Only from March 20 to May 11 the most beautiful spring garden in the world – Keukenhof, less than 30 minutes away from Amsterdam, is open and while you are there you can hit the unique parade of flowers, which this year falls on April 12. Celebrations in Amsterdam continue throughout the month, with April 26 this year (and the rest on April 27) celebrating King’s Day with many attractions and events – after all, Amsterdam is also known as a party destination.
How to get there? Direct flights to Amsterdam are offered by Bulgaria Air, and a more economical option is a Ryanair or Wizzair flight to Eindhoven.


(10) ZERMATT, SWITZERLAND
Temperature in April: 10°C high; 2°C low
The arrival of spring usually marks the end of the ski season, but there is still fresh snow on the high peaks of Switzerland and most ski lifts closing only at the end of April. Thus, April is considered the off-season in Zermatt, the prices are significantly lower, and the excellent conditions for a holiday with countless hiking trails and breathtaking views are there. While you’re there, don’t miss to board the famous Glacier Express train, which connects Zermatt with St. Moritz and is considered one of the best panoramic train trips.
How to get there? The closest airport to Zermatt is Zion, but due to the small number of flights there, it is probably better to use the airports in Geneva, Milan or Zurich. The easiest way to get to Zermatt is by train, and again we recommend taking advantage of one of the panoramic Swiss railways.
